We select for :

-Improving morphology and typicality presenting our dogs in ufficial dog
shows and breed club shows;
-Eleminating genetic diseases by performing radiological examinations
(Officially Certified by ENCI) for control of hip dysplasia and elbow;
-Keeping intact the functional character and balance that Pastoral Abruzzese
tradition handed down to us.
For this reason The dogs of Dell'Antico Tratturo live free in packs in open
spaces, the boxes are only used to temporarily isolate for various reasons
(bitches in heat, pregnancy and lactation, when treated, very old dogs in
need of special care, etc..) dogs also live in direct contact with animals
who they protect (sheep, goats, chickens), the puppies are used to living
with the farm animals from the age of weaning. We work with many farms,
livestock and herders in Italy and abroad to whom we entrust our dogs to
guard and care of cattle with excellent results.
We submit our adult dogs to the TMC (Test Morpho-Character) prepared by the
CPMA (Italian Maremma-Abruzzese Shepherd's Club), the only association specialized
of the protection and dissemination of the breed.
